The Wedding - Blooper reel!

With another Jensen family wedding just around the corner, I thought it'd be an enjoyable flashback to look at a few fun photos from the last one. I guess some of these aren't "bloopers" in the traditional sense; they're just fun to have caught on film.  Enjoy the memories!

She's not part of the 'happy people' per se, but catching this on camera makes *me* smile!

I quite possibly put this whole blog post together just to showcase this photo. Subtle, Andrew - but not subtle enough.

Edinburgh

[ Tangent: As is typical with these kinds of blogs, there's never enough room or time to document the whole trip. Katy and Brian gave one stellar tour and showed us a smashing time whilst in Scotland. I wish they'd stay so we could visit again! ]

---------------------

Our last stop on our European adventure was in Edinburgh to visit Ben's sister Katy and her husband, Brian. Brian's working on PhD there, and Katy works at that Scottish National History Museum and just finished a graduate degree in museum studies. Needless to say, we were in good hands.

Here we are, sightseeing.

And here's a portion of the Edinburgh Castle, our first tour, and an easy walking distance from where we stayed and from where Katy and Brian  live.

A view of Edinburgh from the castle.

More of the castle, with the city in the background.

The oldest standing structure of Edinburgh Castle is St. Margaret's chapel, built in the 1100s. Here I am, inside, checking out some ancient document on vellum. Actually took a while to find a trash can for that apple core. Turns out there was one outside the chapel.

And here's Katy.

Right outside the main entrance to the castle. I'm sure the man didn't mean to photobomb us, but with a shirt that shade of blue, it's hard not to!

"Have fun stormin' the castle!"

This is on our walk home after seeing Man of Steel. T'was good to be walking, for we had consumed some excellent hamburgers pre-movie. Dinner and movie? Sold!

--------------------------------------------------------

So all-in-all, a wonderful trip abroad visiting family, friends, and exotic locales. While we probably won't redo the number of destinations in 3 weeks, we'll most certainly revisit this side of the world. Hopefully we'll have family to visit when we do!

Germany - Amberg

One of the places we explored near where Anna and Chris live was Amberg. I know almost nothing about its history, but enjoy the evidence we captured of our trip there. Photo entry!

Video!

That's us on the bridge. iPhone 'zoom' is only so good.

Why, yes - it *was* as good as it looks.

Germany - Nuremberg

Another little day trip we took was to Nuremberg. Our first stop was the Nazi parade grounds. You know, these parade grounds:

And here we are singing a song about Tiny Tim, a turtle, with the above-pictured parade grounds in the background. (Here's the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTsvSbl8rEw.  I don't think she gets it quite right, and she's certainly skimping on the hand gestures,  but you get the idea.)

The most geographically proximate space to the Nazi parade grounds is a large park, complete with bike and walking paths, paddle boats, and a half-dressed man playing a recorder in the reeds.

Perhaps playing his hippie pipe music is an 'in-your-face' to Hitler

Next up was the Palace of Justice, most famous as the venue for the Nuremberg trials. It's now (at least in part) a museum with really well done displays + audio tour. We all soaked that in for a bit, then sat for a while in the courtroom. Sobering.

Then we posed for photos outside. Sophie was pretty unfazed by the whole thing.

What? Me worry?

We managed to put on happy faces, too.
